The primetime background for Week 6 of those NCAAF everyday season is a little on the condensed side for a variety of groups are on bye this past week. There are several excellent games to look ahead, including this assembly in Columbus of Big Ten competitors.
The Michigan State Spartans have slipped back from an upset loss at home with two victories. They will be on the road Saturday night when they take about the Ohio State Buckeyes.
While the Buckeyes have awakened to 4th after yet another victory on Saturday the Spartans were ranked 25th in the country for the most recent AP Top 25 poll. A case is starting to be made for Ohio State really being the program in the nation, since they obtained seven first-place votes.
The Buckeyes are residence favorites that are big, but Michigan State is far from a pushover. This can be a stout defensive squad which is advancing on offense as the season moves along. Lets take a look at this tilt that is intriguing.

Michigan State was last Saturday playing host. They were favorites that are large but ended up with a challenging time. The Spartans managed to rally for a triumph, although it was tied up in 31 late in the 4th quarter. Brian Lewerke threw for 300 yards and three scores. The Buckeyes have yet to be analyzed while remaining undefeated on the season. They let 21 points to visiting Florida Atlantic at Week 1. They have enabled opponents to score a total of 22 points. In Week 2, they clobbered visiting with Cincinnati. Each of their wins over this year have come by at least 24 points.
Heading to the 2019 season, Michigan State was being viewed as a strong team which had work to do on crime. That still holds true, but the Spartans have shown life on that side of the chunk together with the noteworthy exception of their loss. Lewerke has made progress, casting for 10 scores 1,325 yards and 1 pick.
Elijah Collins leads the team in rushing with 78 takes for yards and 3 scores. Darrell Stewart Jr. paces the pass catchers with 35 receptions for 556 yards and 3 scores. The defense is holding opponents to an average of 15.0 points a game when booted 16 sacks. While Kenny Willekes is shirts with four sacks, joe Bachie directs the team with 47 tackles.
Ohio State had a few questions to answer heading into the season too. New head coach Ryan Day and transfer QB Justin Fields have answered many of them. The Buckeyes are undefeated, and Fields is a big part of the Heisman conversation. He has pitched for 1,092 yards, 16 scores and no picks, and added on 222 rushing yards and a second seven TDs on the ground.
J.K. Dobbins direct the way from the backfield with 92 conveys for 654 yards and five scores. Fields has plenty of weapons at his disposal at the passing game, with all K.J. Hill top with 20 receptions. The offense has impressed , but so also has a defense that is letting 8.6 points a game while racking up 23 sacks. Chase Young is the group leader with eight sacks.
The Buckeyes lead the all time series between both of these programs. They have won the last three in a row, including a years 26-6 victory on the Spartans home gardening. So far this season, Michigan State is 2-3 against the spread and 3-2 on totals. Ohio State is 4-1 ATS and 2-2-1 around the Over/Under.
Last year, the Spartans were 7-6 overall, 4-9 ATS, and 4-9 on levels. The Buckeyes were 13-1 straight-up, 6-8 ATS, and 7-7 on totals. Michigan State is 3-3 straight-up and ATS as a home underdog. Ohio State is 22-1 as 11-12 ATS and a house favorite.
Outside the lack of Arizona State, the Spartans have been strong in 2019. Three of the four wins have come by 21 points or more, but they did have a time.
